FILLER INJECTIONS
BOTOX®, Restylane, Radiance and Injectible Fillers
Today, facial injections are very common and offer you additional choices of achieving facial results without having an operation. I believe that the correct placement of these injections is critical to achieving the best results.
Injectibles are becoming a major addition to my practice and are often used in conjunction with facelift surgery. They can help fill out deep wrinkles, creases and furrows. They can also add volume to the lips helping with fine lines around the mouth. Great results can be achieved with these fillers while maintaining a natural, healthy result.
There are several dozen types of fillers on the market; however I am only comfortable offering the ones approved by the FDA. Most often patients schedule a facial consultation and we discuss the right filler to choose and the temporary and or semi-permanent effects. I will also discuss the benefits and potential risks of fillers. A non-surgical method is discussed using a combination of fillers such as BOTOX, Restylane and or Radiesse. Patient returns for a thirty minute in office injection treatment
BOTOX®
Dr. Ward offers a strong concentration of BOTOX® to his patients for cosmetic improvements between the frown line area, forehead and crows feet around the eyes. BOTOX ® is injected into the skin with a very tiny needle, which relaxes the facial muscles smoothing expression lines. Some patients report high rates of appearance lasting 4-6 months. A few tiny injections of BOTOX® relaxes the muscles used in your frown and brow that causes the lines to form. It is a minimal discomfort non-surgical procedure that does not require any downtime.

RESTYLANE
Restylane is an injectible filler made of stabilized hyaluronic acid found naturally in human tissue. The filler acts with the body’s own production of hyaluronic acid to add volume to the injected areas. It is a non-animal product so there is no skin testing required before the injection.
In my practice I have found restylane to be very effective for fine lines around the mouth area and for adding volume to the lips.
Time Required
It usually takes about thirty minutes to perform the injection treatment.
Discomfort Level
The patient is given a local injection to block the pain or discomfort. Side effects are rare but may include some swelling, redness and tenderness at the site of injection.
Result Duration
Restylane results are immediate and usually last around 6-8 months. Longevity depends on the patients lifestyle and because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance it will breakdown or dissolve differently in each patient.

RADIESSE (Radiance)
Radiance is a new combination of collagen and calcium Hydroxyapatite(a derivative of human bone) that offers a smoother more rounded finish than traditional collagen.
Areas Treated
Dr. Ward has found Radiesse to be very effective for folds around the nose and mouth area and underneath eyes and chin.
Duration
Radiesse will last from 2-5 years as opposed to months and is shown to cause little to no allergic reactions or other side effects.
Time Required
This is an in office procedure. After application of local anesthetic the injection is performed using a small needle. Approximately a thirty minute procedure.
Discomfort Level
Virtually none for most clients, maybe minor discomfort at injection site.
